The FFP2 designation is a European standard that is widely considered to be equivalent to the N95 masks approved by American regulators. Guidance issued by the Centers for Disease Control (April 3, 2020) says the FFP2 masks are "suitable alternatives" to the N95 mask when medical supplies are running short, and research from Minnesota-based 3M Corporation found that FFP2 masks are "reasonable to consider….as equivalent" to the N95 variety.
