MyMusicFolders.com About Us
Just Who Are You Guys Anyway?
Jon and Robbin Rose started the website www.MyMusicFolders.com in 2002 with the help of their good friend and webmaster Tim, as a way to help fund the Missoula Community Chorus (which we were crazy enough to start in 2001, check them out: www.MissoulaChorus.org). As selling music folders blossomed into a full time endeavor, we had the opportunity to work with a high-end manufacturer and designer to develop a new fabric blend especially for choir robes that brought together the multitude of benefits of bamboo fibers into a super comfortable and long-lasting choir robe. (We don't currently offer this style of robe because the fabric mill ceased operations. We're working on getting another fabric mill lined up. We do stock choir robes in soft and silky polyester; ready to ship.)
Both of us have been working musicians all of our adult lives. We were always musicians, and sometimes we have been "working" musicians :-)
Jon was in a punk band (well, maybe "ska" – he has a trombone and he’s not afraid to use it!) that traveled the Northwest U.S. in the mid-80’s. Robbin sang light opera and musicals in summer theaters for several seasons. Later endeavors included Jon’s 18 year stint singing in a Madrigal group, drinking port wine while wearing tights and singing catches. Robbin spent that time working for churches, singing jazz standards on the weekends, and getting a graduate degree in Music Thanatology (prescriptive music for people at the end of life).
Jon’s good friend Tim has spent thousands of hours creating, maintaining and marketing our website. Without Tim’s efforts you wouldn’t be reading this. His handiwork can also be viewed from his website, www.NorthForkMedia.com. Tim has been in a number of choirs over the years, including the aforementioned Madrigal group wherein he too wore tights and sang port-infused catches.
We have 2 pianos, 4 trombones, 2 guitars, several autoharps (don’t ask), a 31-string harp, 2 musical daughters, and a dog who can pitch-match! We are thinking about posting a video on YouTube of Zuzu, the singing Pomeranian... we’ll keep you updated! We also have a french bulldog named Pippin. He's very athletic and has a wide mouth like a muppet and an appetite to match.
There are a couple other notable characters who help get the folders out the door. Sara is our handy typesetting expert for the music folder embossing. She's definitely a ray of sunshine and a friendly face we enjoy seeing. Caitlin, who sings Soprano, is our girl Friday and helps us get so many things done. You may talk to her on the phone, chat with her on our Facebook pages or see her deft touch with the packing tape on the packages you receive from us.
